CYSTOSCOPY AND SMALL PROCEDURES

Cystoscopy and small procedures do not require fasting.  Eat your breakfast.  Drink your coffee!

Patients must check in 30 minutes prior to cystoscopy and all small procedures.

A camera viewing the bladder

This is a quick procedure which only takes a couple of minutes, during which a camera is inserted into the urethra and into the bladder to look for bladder tumours, bladder stones, or removal of ureteric stents, etc.

Immunotherapy to help prevent bladder cancer recurrences

BCG requires a temporary Foley catheter insertion, and then the BCG immunotherapy (50mL) is injected into the bladder, then the catheter is removed.  Patients hold the solution in their bladder for 1-2 hours.

Effective Contraception

Local anaesthetic is used to numb the vas deferens, before it is cut and clipped.  This takes roughly 20 minutes.  There is an absorbable suture left in place on either side.
